Workflow and automation
How much of rendering from CAD can you automate?
More than you would expect for a tool with no scripting, and less than "automate" usually promises. Rendermio has no API and no batch queue — the honest first thing to say. What it has is a set of one-click operations that collapse the repetitive parts of a shoot, so that rendering a product takes one decision per step rather than thirty. Here is exactly what is automatic, what is one click, and what is still yours.
What is automatic on load
The file is converted, welded, smoothed and split into parts without a prompt. The studio reads the file's part names and, for jewellery, guesses which parts are stones. A 3DM's stone positions are read. The model is centred, grounded and framed. None of this is configurable and none of it needs to be — it is the work you would otherwise do in a 3D package before you could start.
What is one click
Auto Jewelry Setup: finds the stones, makes the rest gold, switches to the Pro Jewelry lighting. A Look: sets lighting, backdrop, floor and pose together — eleven of them, from Catalog on white to Luxury Velvet. From .3dm: places every stone where the designer put it. Each of these replaces a sequence of decisions with one, and each can be undone.
- Auto Jewelry Setup — materials and lighting for a piece of jewellery
- Looks — the whole scene, from one tile
- From .3dm — every stone, placed
- Re-frame — camera fitted to the model
What is batched: the export packs
This is where the real time goes, and where the studio does the most. An export pack renders several angles at a set resolution from one press. Store listing shoots catalogue, front, side and top at 2K. Social square shoots a hero and a close-up at 2048². Print shoots a hero and a back at 4K. And Metal range shoots the catalogue view in every gold and platinum — a six-finish product from one file, all matching because they came from one frame.
A contact sheet labels every frame in the pack, so what came out is what you ordered.
What still needs a person
Choosing the Look. Deciding whether the piece is Upright or Tipped. Clicking the stone seats in an STL. Naming the export. And running the next file — there is no queue, no folder-watching, no script that renders forty files overnight. That is the boundary today.
For a range of products, the practical automation is consistency rather than volume: use the same Look, pose and pack for every file, and the range photographs as a range. The guide on rendering a collection covers that.
Why there is no API — yet
Because the rendering happens on your machine, in your browser, on your GPU. That is the property that makes the tool safe for unreleased designs, and it is the property an API would break: a server-side render is a render on somebody else's machine. A cloud path-traced tier is planned as a paid option and does not exist yet. Everything here happens on your own machine: the file is converted and rendered in the browser through your GPU and is never uploaded, so an unreleased design stays unreleased.
Questions
Does Rendermio have an API or batch rendering?
No. Rendering runs in your browser on your own GPU, one file at a time. The export packs batch several angles and finishes from one file, but there is no queue, script or API for multiple files. A cloud rendering tier is planned and does not yet exist.
What is the fastest path from CAD to a listing?
Drop the file, press Auto Jewelry Setup, pick the Catalog Look, export the Store listing pack. Four angles at 2K, about a minute on a normal laptop, no other decisions required.
Can I render a product in every finish automatically?
Every gold and platinum, yes — the Metal range pack does it from one file. Other materials are a click each in the studio; the camera does not move between them, so the images match.
