A ring designed in Rhino, MatrixGold or any CAD program becomes a catalogue photograph in about a minute — with diamonds that are ray-traced through their real facets, gold that was measured rather than guessed, and nothing ever uploaded. Rendermio was built for this before it was built for anything else.

Diamonds that are traced, not painted

Most quick renderers fake a stone with a sparkly texture. The Traced renderer here follows light through the stone's actual cut geometry, with dielectric Fresnel and dispersion — so a round brilliant fires the way a round brilliant fires, and a princess does not. There are 40 cuts, sixteen of them built from real cut geometry down to a heart, and each stone in a piece can be tuned on its own: brightness, fire, sparkle depth, facet count.

Metals are measured. Yellow, rose and white gold from 24K down to 10K, platinum, palladium and sterling silver, each with its own colour and response to light, so a 14K rose reads as 14K rose beside an 18K.

From Rhino and MatrixGold: the stones come with the file

A jewellery .3dm usually records where every stone sits, even when the file carries no stone meshes at all. Rendermio reads those positions and places real gems in exactly those seats — one button in the Stones step. That is the single biggest reason to render from the 3DM rather than from an STL of the same ring.

From STL: put the stones back

An STL from a casting house or a print job has usually lost its stones. Pick a cut, click each seat on the model, and the studio measures the surrounding prongs to size the stone to fit. The STL's flats are welded and smoothed into polished metal on import.

Export the listing, not just an image

The export packs are built for how jewellery is sold: a store-listing pack at 2K in the catalogue, front, side and top views; a square pack for social; a metal-range pack that renders the same piece in every gold and platinum; and a 4K pair for print. Cut-out PNGs carry transparency for compositing, and a 360° turntable with a sparkle sweep renders as WebM or MP4.

Unreleased designs stay unreleased

Conversion and rendering both happen on your own machine, through your browser's GPU. There is no server that receives the file, so there is nothing to leak. For work under NDA this is not a feature; it is the reason the tool is built this way.

Questions

Can I render a MatrixGold or RhinoGold design without those programs?

Yes. Save or export the design as .3dm and drop it into Rendermio — the file is read in the browser with McNeel's own rhino3dm library, no Rhino or Matrix licence needed. Stone positions recorded in the file are used to place real gems.

How are the diamonds rendered?

By tracing light through the stone's real facet geometry with dielectric Fresnel and dispersion, on your GPU. This is what produces genuine fire and scintillation rather than a sparkle texture. Forty cuts are available, and every stone can be tuned individually.

Can I make a spinning video of a ring?

Yes. Choose a camera move — a plain turntable, a sparkle sweep that turns the lighting the other way so facets flash, or one of twenty others — pick a duration, and export as WebM or MP4. It renders frame by frame on your own machine.

Is it really free for jewellery?

The browser studio is free and ad-supported, with every cut, metal and Look included and exports up to 8K. Removing the ads is $4 a month, or a pass in India. Nothing about your designs is ever uploaded or seen by Rendermio.
